A healthcare facility is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Patient Transporter to safely transport patients throughout the hospital and support clinical teams with patient movement, transfers, and general department assistance. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable interacting with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.

This is a full-time position.

Position Summary

The Patient Transporter is responsible for safely transporting patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed to and from clinical, ancillary, and support areas. This position also assists clinical staff with patient transfers and provides general support to assigned departments as needed.

The ideal candidate is professional, courteous, physically capable of assisting with patient movement, and committed to providing a positive and respectful patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Transport patients safely to and from clinical, ancillary, and support areas as requested

Use wheelchairs, stretchers, hospital beds, and other approved transport equipment appropriately

Assist clinical personnel with transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers

Greet patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and helpful manner

Offer assistance to patients, visitors, and customers throughout the facility

Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required

Maintain patient safety, comfort, dignity, and confidentiality during transport

Communicate effectively with nurses, clinical staff, departments, and supervisors

Provide general assistance to assigned departments as needed

Support orientation and mentoring of new staff members as assigned

Report concerns, delays, safety issues, or equipment problems to the appropriate supervisor

Follow all facility policies, procedures, safety standards, and compliance requirements

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

No previous healthcare experience required

Previous patient transport, hospital, customer service, or healthcare experience preferred

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and assist with patient movement as required by the role

Dependable, professional, and safety-focused

No travel required

HIPAA training and/or a current HIPAA certificate is required

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect patient information at all times
