Medical Assistant
Job Description:
A healthcare practice is seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant to support clinical operations and help ensure patients receive high-quality, efficient care. This role is ideal for someone with strong patient care skills, clinical experience, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced medical office environment.
This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position with no nights, no weekends, no on-call, and no holidays.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to providers and care teams within a medical practice setting. This position helps prepare patients for exams and treatments, assists with procedures, supports lab testing and phlebotomy, maintains exam rooms and supplies, and helps ensure a positive patient experience.
The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable working directly with patients, providers, and office staff.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare patients for examinations and treatments
Take and document patient histories, vital signs, and other required clinical information
Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
Clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas
Assist with preparation, maintenance, and sterilization of supplies and equipment
Administer injections as directed and within scope of practice
Assist with lab testing and phlebotomy
Support physicians and providers with minor procedures, physicals, and patient care activities
Answer telephone calls and screen calls or referrals as appropriate
Document patient information accurately in the medical record
Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all privacy, safety, and compliance requirements
Support daily clinical workflow and assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred but not required
Active and unrevoked RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, NCRMA, or similar Medical Assistant credential highly preferred
Strong communication, organization, and patient care skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Basic computer skills and experience with electronic health records preferred
HIPAA training and/or a current HIPAA certificate is required
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect patient information at all times
